Welcome to Winter Team Tryout INFO page for F.C. Portland Academy!

We hope this information provides you with a great picture of the U15-U18 tryout process and the 2010-2011 soccer season.

F.C. Portland coaches bios will give you a clear picture of our staff and their background.  Our goal is to develop each player, while also preparing them to be successful against the highest levels of competition from other parts of the Pacific Northwest and the country, through travel and league play.

For the players selected this year, you will realize the benefits of the new training programs that were developed during the 2009-2010 season.  Now, the new teams will be formed and will focus immediately on preparing for stronger competition through our membership in US Club Soccer, The Oregon Premier League (OPL), Northwest Champions League (NWCL) and for our U15-U16 and U17-U18 Boys, the Western College Development Academy (WCDA).

What do we look for at tryouts?

Very simply, coaches look for players who have a passion for the game and who have the technical, tactical, mental and physical skills to compete at the highest levels.  Each coach may also consider specific team strengths and a player’s commitment to the overall goals of our total program.

Who may attend tryouts?
If you are a player in good standing (no outstanding balances due) with your current club, born between August 1, 1992 and July 31, 1996, you are eligible to tryout out.

Every player pays the nonrefundable $40 tryout fee when you register by 9:00am Friday,  August 6th.  Early registration is strongly recommended.

Starting at 9:00am FRIDAY AUGUST 6, and continuing through the scheduled tryout sessions, the tryout fee becomes $50.00.

Paper registration forms are available at the Academy office and at www.fcportland.org and for walk-up registrants at the fields before each tryout session.

The Tryout Fee does not apply toward the $395 Membership Fee or the $900 Training Fee.

What happens after tryouts?
Players selected to teams will receive their invitation to become members by 2:00pm on Wednesday, August 11th through the F.C. Portland website.  The Tryout Numbers will be listed under your age group (REMEMBER your tryout number!!!).

Selected players must confirm their acceptance, arrange to pay the $395 non-refundable Membership Fee and select a payment plan for the non-refundable $900 Training Fee by 12:00noon on Friday, August 13th. The next fee payment will be due by November 1st according to the selected payment plan. Although most teams will begin training near the end of the OSAA high school season, some may start earlier, especially if they plan to participate in a tournament over the Thanksgiving weekend.

All tryout sessions are conducted at:
Liberty High School
21945 NW Wagon Way
Hillsboro, OR 97124
